A fourth place league finish in 1971 qualified Wolverhampton Wanderers for the newly created Uefa Cup the following season. Wolves played magnificant in Europe and beat Juventus en route to the final. The first ever Uefa Cup final was contested between Wolves and Tottenham Hotspurs over two legs.
